JAN-30-12 The Forum is proud to announce Medscape's recent launch of the new "Improving Care for Patients With HIV Infection: Performance Improvement CME." This is the most recent development in the TREAT (Test, Refer, Engage, ART Initiation, Treatment Over Time) Initiative, our ongoing collaborative effort with Medscape and HealthHIV.
The updated Performance Improvement (PI) platform better enables clinicians to take charge of an education program that meets the needs of their practices. PI Continuing Medical Education (CME) encourages physicians to further their skills in HIV treatment by evaluating their practice against established standards of care, planning and implementing strategies to overcome identified gaps, and remeasuring their performance after the changes take place. This program aids physicians in the assessment of current practices and identification of barriers to successful engagement in HIV care. Additionally, it recommends tools and resources to help design and implement strategies to reduce clinic appointment no-show rates and improve linkage to and retention in care for HIV-positive patients, including routine psychosocial screening.
